About The MacKay Peerage
This is a website for my immediate family, aunts, uncles and cousins and any distant relatives who are searching for their ancestors. The best thing to do is to sign in, then go to the "relationships" tool at the bottom of this page. Choose your name on the left, and anyone on the list on the right to see how you are related to that person. Also, I have used Samantha Hoy's web page extensively to link the MacKay's and Kent's to the peerage of England.

We are also direct descendants of the Scottish Kings, the last of our heritage being William the Lion. Some of that heritage comes through the English Royal lines, (from Malcolm III's daughter Matilda) but we also have direct lineage to the Scottish Kings through Northumbrian families, which, as my son Levi is pleased to note, have no relation at all to the Plantagenets.

If you scroll down, under "Useful Links", you can go to the Peerage Website which is chronicaling all known peerage of Europe descendants. When you go there, you are looking for John Swinbourne, and Mary Shemons. Our ancestor is their daughter is Hannah, tho of 8 children, only her brother Thomas is listed on this site. I am working on getting Hannah listed as well. Hannah married Alexander Kent , from Scotland, and Hannah and Alexander were Ida Kent MacKay's great- grandparents. I'll include a picture of the pedigree chart that Clan MacKay sent to me and you can see how we get to John Swinbourne in 1717. Also use the "family tree" view to see the websites I have attached to many names. They help the anscestors be more real to us!

Because of a distant cousin, Samantha Hoy, from Australia, who has done extensive research on the Swinbornes, I discovered the Royal roots that Mum always said her Grandma MacKay talked about. It seems we are direct descendants of virtually all Medieval Royalty.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
